Statement of Inclusion

Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church welcomes all persons regardless of race, ethnic origin, worldly condition, sexual orientation, or gender identity. All the sacraments, celebrations, privileges, and responsibilities of church participation and leadership are available to each person who responds in trust and obedience to God’s grace in Jesus and desires to become part of the mission and ministry of Christ’s Church.

LGBTQIA+ Groups at Summit

In addition to welcoming all members of the queer community to all of our worship services, groups, gatherings and activities, we offer two groups that are especially geared to the LGBTQIA+ community:

Parents of LGBTQIA+ Youth Support Group

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

Parents of LGBTQ+ children of all ages can benefit from being in community together and providing each other with mutual support. Gather in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.

LGBTQIA+ Bible Study and Support

Queerly Beloved is a Bible Study and Support group for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We read selected passages of Scripture and discuss them from a queer perspective to correct how Scripture has been used throughout the centuries to condemn and demonize diverse sexual orientation and gender identity, and to help heal wounds caused by spiritual abuse and religious intolerance.

We also welcome people who do not consider themselves Christian or religious at all, but are looking for a safe and supportive environment.

While we are extremely grateful for our straight allies, this group is only for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Email LGBTQGroup@summitave.net for meeting time and place.
